Meeting other gardeners, eating soup and hearing about the history of the site
This was a really good varied event, we began the day with a talk by Newham Heritage & Archive's Kathy Taylor (Heritage Community Learning & Outreach Officer for Newham) and archaeologist Bob Cowie who told us about the fascinating history of our site and the surrounding area. After this we all had a soup lunch made by lots of different people including Dasha & Nina (of course) with Squash soup from Louise's West Ham Allotment, plus the local police officer's home-grown tomato soup and one made by another officer's mum! Finally we wrapped up with a round table chat with guests from other local green initiatives, swapping tips and experiences.
